Max's First Tatoo

Ok, so I really thought Max would be twenty years old as opposed to twenty months old when I told people about his first tattoo - haha! When I picked Max up from MDO Thursday I was greeted by the sight of seven adorable toddlers with Sesame Street tatoos on their cheeks. One of his classmates turned 2 and the birthday boy's mom brought temporary tatoos for all the kids - such a cute idea. It was so funny to see them examining each other's faces! When I showed Max his picture on our camera he said "Cookie!". He can now identify Big Bird, Cookie Monster and Elmo by name.

On a side note, I have to tell you about Max's love/hate relationship with Cookie Monster. He initially loves to see him and happily yells "Cookie!" when he makes his appearance. That's the love part. The hate part comes later when Cookie Monster does what he does best - devouring a cookie. When he starts shoving the cookie in his mouth and making all the associated noises, Max looks at me with a panic-stricken face and yells "Cooooookkkkiiieeee......" and runs toward me! I get a good laugh from that! Count Dracula gets kind of the same reaction..........There's always only love for Elmo, though! Enjoy the pics!

Easter

We had a wonderful (and busy!) Easter weekend! On Friday we attended our church's Good Friday service, which was just amazing. On Saturday we had an Easter photo shoot on the campus of Samford University. I was all about any chance for Max to wear his Easter outfit - how much do you love those pants??! We had a great time taking pictures and Max ran and ran and ran until he was completely exhausted. On Sunday we had another great church service followed by a wonderful, delicious meal at my aunt and uncle's house. Later that afternoon, Max spent almost a solid hour just sitting on the floor and playing with the toys and puzzles he got in his Easter basket. It was a great weekend.

Easter is a holiday that we really look forward to each year. A time for reflection on the Cross, the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the amazing gift of our Salvation. A reminder that we are not made for this world, but for heaven where we will live with God forever. I am excited for the day when Max is older and he, as a believer and follower of Christ, will also anticipate Easter as a wonderful time of year. We have so much to look forward to!

Of course, he better not ever get to old to wear madras plaid pants on Easter. Why mess with a good thing?

Good-Bye Winter Clothes!

I am hoping that this week was the last time I will be putting winter clothes on Max for a while. We are ready for the warm weather to stick around! I figured I would snap a pic of him in these adorable cord overalls my Uncle Brian gave him, since this will probably be their last appearance. Doesn't he just look adorable? I love him in overalls! And yes, that is my childhood boombox in his room, from which I listened to the great artists of the 80's/90's like Debbie Gibson, Paula Abdul, Michael Jackson, and, of course, New Kids on the Block! I figure "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Besides, everything from my childhood is now coming back in style, so he is ahead of the curve. Soon Max will be wearing splatter-paint T-shirts, parachute pants and neon shoelaces! : )

Thomas!

We spent Saturday evening with the cute guy pictured above. That's right - Thomas the Train came to town! Max is not really at the point where he has to have all things Thomas (or any other character for that matter), but he does really like trains. So, needless to say, Max had a great time at A Day Out with Thomas! In addition to taking a fun 20-minute ride on Thomas, he got to hang out with Aunt Ashey, Uncle Ricky and Pops. They had a neat set-up that included lots of Thomas related activities for the kids to do. Max played with toy trains and was obsessed with one activity that allowed him to press a big red button that made an electric train run. And I mean, OBSESSED! We weren't sure we were going to be able to get him away from it in order to get on the train ride. You know, the thing we actually came to do - haha! The train ride was great. We were in an open-air car and the breeze felt wonderful, since it was a very warm and sunny day. Our car was right behind Thomas so we could see him the whole time. Max loved it. He acted like he had ridden a train a million times before. : ) We went back to Ash and Ricky's for pizza afterwards and Max was a very tired boy by the time we got home. We had such a great afternoon!

On the Mend

Max is feeling much better today. Still not completely back to normal, but he is well on his way! I thought I would give you some happy pictures from this morning so that you don't have to see his sad, pitiful sick picture every time you look at the blog!
