Sleepy Eyes

Max's newest "trick" is that he has started rubbing his eyes when he gets sleepy. It is the cutest thing! I caught this picture of him doing it this past weekend. It is so amazing to us when he starts doing something new, even something as small as rubbing his sleepy eyes!

We have been blessed that Max has been a great night-time sleeper since Day 1. My mom jokes that it was due to my 6 weeks of bed rest before he was born. He got used to sleeping all the time! :) Right now he has a great mix of being awake a lot during the day and sleeping a lot at night.

Below is a general idea of what Max's schedule is like right now. The times are not exactly the same each day, but they're pretty close.
  • Wakes up between 5-6 AM for a feeding, then takes a morning nap
  • Wakes up between 8-9 am from morning nap
  • Plays, talks, and laughs in his swing, rocking seat, or on his play-mat until around 2 PM (with a couple of meals thrown in - he's also a good eater!)
  • Takes afternoon nap around 2PM
  • Wakes up around 4 PM from afternoon nap
  • Plays (and eats!) some more until bathtime, which is around 8PM
  • Has his final feeding around 9PM , falls asleep around 10 PM, and sleeps until the next morning!
Of course, not every day goes this smoothly. He has his lazy days and his wide-awake days. Luckily, though, he almost always sleeps his full 8 hours at night, and that's about as much as we can ask for. Jeff and I are so grateful for a full night's rest - we need it to get through the next day! For such a little guy, Max keeps us on our toes and on-the-go!
