We had a very fun, VERY busy Christmas season. Some things I blogged about already, such as the two Breakfasts with Santa we attended, Zoolight Safari, the Grandparents' Christmas Party, Max's class party and some fun baking activities. Other things that we have had going on since Thanksgiving include : my mom had foot surgery, Jeff's mom had hip surgery, Jackman had his major esophogus attachment surgery, we celebrated Mamaw Jo's brithday and our good friend Cassie's birthday, we were able to visit our precious nephew and see his beautiful face without any tubes or tape, we decorated our house for Christmas, we attended both a Candellight service and Christmas Eve service at church where Max actually sat with us in "Big" church (and did very well!), we bought Christmas presents, found out we are having a baby girl, picked out nursery bedding, had the nursery painted, visited with my Uncle Jerry who was here from California, went to Bass Pro Shops to visit their Winter Wonderland, had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner at my grandmothers and a delicious Christmas lunch at my parents and have started potty training! Wow! No wonder I am tired - ha!
Seriously, it has been a wonderful Christmas season for us. We started some new family traditions including the Advent Calendar with Max. We would discuss each day that the reason we celebrate Christmas is because of Baby Jesus' birthday and then we would open a door on the calendar and he would find a Hershey kiss behind it. He now refers to the Kisses as "Baby Jesus Birfday Snack" and probably will for a long time. It makes me laugh every time. We want Max to enjoy some of the normal Christmas traditions such as Santa, but we want to make sure he knows the true meaning is the birth of our Savior. It has been amazing to watch him learn to pray and thank Jesus for things like "Baby Jesus birthday" and "Mommy and Daddy" without being prompted. He has also thanked Jesus for "Frosty Snowman" - ha!!
We had so much fun with our family on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Max loves being around everyone and he was in a great mood. He knew Santa was coming and was so excited about the remote control train set he left for him. After having some family time at our house, we spent most of the rest of the day at my parents eating, opening gifts and just having fun. Max would not even take a nap - he did not want to miss out on anything. It was a great day. We have such a wonderful, supportive family and we love being with them.
We are looking forward to 2010. 2009 has been good, for the most part, but has had a lot of bumps along the way. Bumps we could not have made it through without our God. For 2010, we are eagerly anticipating the birth of our daughter, Greenlee, watching Max become the sweet big brother we know he will be, and for our nephew Jackman to come home for good. I think 2010 is going to be a great year! We wish you and your family a blessed and Happy New Year!
